Client Brief

Victoria Plc were looking to establish their in-house tax function for the first time as it was currently outsourced to a Big 4 firm. They had been looking for the right hire for several months and had even engaged several of the well-known search firms.

The brief was to find a senior Tax leader with strong UK and European tax knowledge who would be capable of building out the in-house tax function from scratch and ultimately building a team.

What We Did

Tax is a small world outside of London, and even smaller when looking at Listed organisations in the Midlands. However, we were able to engage with one of our senior contractors who was due to finish a two-year assignment doing a very similar role. Due to the relationship we had with the candidate, we knew that they would consider longer-term projects or even a permanent position if the assignment was challenging enough - which this was.

Interview Process

First stage interviews conducted in our offices in Birmingham with a second-stage interview on-site.
